About

I’ve been wanting to start this blog a long time ago, and I guess the Beijing 2008 Olympics finally pushed me over the edge to get started. I’ve been working in China for 6 7 years now, and if I mention this fact to anybody I meet (virtual or real life), I get flooded with questions about this strange and mystical country.

Even though we expats do our best to dispel the mythos about this country, I still keep seeing fresh, young faces every year falling for the same pitfalls that many have suffered through. And with the Olympics approaching over, there will be millions more who will be curious and wanting to visit this country.

I hope this guide/blog will start you at the right direction, no matter where you are from and where you are going. If you have any questions, please ask, that’s what this is for. Any expat who are interested in sharing some personal experience or opinion is welcome to do so. I have no problem getting into a discussion about the finer point of the traffic problem or hotpot.

P.S: Since the Beijing 2008 Olympics is the biggest event coming up, Even though Olympics is over, I’ll still donate some special sections covering topics for Athletes, Journalists, and etc.

Update: Now the Olympics is over, I’ll get back to my regular life after 2 months of well deserved vacation where I enter a self-imposed exile. I’ll get back to regular posting soon.

Disclaimer:

1. I’ll try to be apolitical in this blog, but if my jaded cynical self does poke its head out from time to time, humor me.

2. Let’s get this out of the way first, I am partially Chinese, but I am neither pro/or anti China/Chinese. The Middle Kingdom hasn’t really seen much of the Middle way as of late, but I’ll try my best to be my neutral cynical self.
